If you need to scan something, we have a crappy little scanner/printer combo guy. Its an Epson Stylus CX3800.
drivers / software
In the public shared storage drive, navigate to
ATX Hackerspace/Drivers/Epson Stylus CX3800/
There, you will find an installer for the TWAIN driver and the drivers/utilities combo. I installed both, but you might be able to get away with just the TWAIN drivers.
However, this was not enough to get this working for me. I had to open up Device Manager, right-click on the scanner (which had an angry exclamation point icon), and tell Windows to use Windows Update to reinstall its driver. At that point it started working.
The next thing you'll discover is that the scanner software which Epson ships is a horrendous pile of refuse. I could get it to generate a preview image, but for the life of me I could not figure out how to perform the final scan.
Tim had a winning suggestion here: just use MS Paint (start -> run -> mspaint). It has a scan feature which gets the job done.
